Post 2008 Election Update
by Sarah Hart Campaign Manager for America's Third Party
Many states do not count individual write-in votes unless their are at least 1% of the vote or more. All write-in votes combined (David Jon Sponheim was included in this number) only accounted for 0.05% of the total vote. The Total number of Write in votes cast nationwide were 66,885. Now, we are working on getting David Jon Sponheim on the ballot for 2012 so that any votes cast for him will be counted in that election. With this early start, David Jon Sponheim can win the Presidency.
States where we filed write in candidacy forms:
Utah, New York, California, Wisconsin, Missouri, Nebraska, Virginia, Maryland, Minnesota, Alaska
States that did not Require Filing of forms (All Write-In Votes are counted):
Alabama, Delaware, Iowa, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Wyoming, Pennsylvania
There are only three qualifications to run for President of the United States, all of which David Jon Sponheim meets.
A Presidential candidate must:
* be a natural-born citizen of the United States;
* be at least thirty-five years old;
* have been a permanent resident in the United States for at least fourteen years.
