File a list of presidential electors and a declaration of candidacy in the manner prescribed in s. 8.21 with the board no later than 4:30 p.m. on the 2nd Tuesday preceding the day of the general election. The list shall contain one presidential elector from each congressional district and 2 electors from the state at large and the names of the candidates for president and vice president for whom they intend to vote, if elected. [8.185(2)]

DECLARATION OF CANDIDACY
NOMINATION PAPER OF INDEPENDENT CANDIDATES FOR PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT
Petition:between 2,000 and 4,000 signatures [8.20(4)]
Start Circulating: No earlier than August 1, 2012.
Deadline:between August 1st and by 5:00 p.m. the first Tuesday in September [8.20(8)]

Party Qualifications:

Petition: 10,000 signatures -> 1,000 in at least 3 congressional districts.
Start Circulating: No earlier than January 1 in the year of the September Primary (even-numbered year).
Deadline: Submit to the Board no later than June 1. [5.62(2)(a)]
Or received at least 1% of the total votes cast for the office sought [5.62(1)(b)1]

General ballot access for major parties:

A vote cast for President and Vice President is made through the Presidential Elector [5.10]
1. Presidential Selection Committee
Selects major party candidates [8.12 (b)] Announcement made at the end of January
2. Petition (for those not selected):
1,000 signatures from each of the 8 districts (8,000 total), but not more than 1,500. Deadline third Tuesday in February [8.12 (c)]

Last day to withdraw from the ballot: withdrawal not permitted
