Our Incredible Summer Campaign Trip

David Jon Sponheim For President 2012! CHAT WITH ATP EVERY MONDAY NIGHT A Note From David Jon Sponheim: We enjoyed our summer vacation. During our campaign across this great nation we drove about 10,000 miles. We are grateful for our wonderful supporters like Christopher aka thegreathoppie who we were able to meet for lunch in Connecticut.
Our Trip Across America
We started out on beautiful Whidbey Island, Washington and started heading south. We drove over the mountains in Oregon and down into California. We noticed Lake Shasta above Redding, California and Pyramid Lake in Los Angeles, California are doing better than we expected. The reservoirs were nearly full in the beginning of June. We stopped on the sunny beaches of Southern California before heading to Las Vegas. Even Lake Mead by the Hoover Damn was much fuller than last time we visited. Then, we drove across the states of Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma where we saw windmills and miles and miles of desert. Finally, we crossed the Mississippi River near Memphis, Tennessee. We had great weather until we got to Monticello, in Virginia where a powerful storm downed trees and took the power out for many. They were able to get the power back on in time for a lovely concert at the local pavillion. We drove around Washington D.C. through Delaware, Maryland,New Jersey and New York and out to Long Island along the Southern Belt Parkway and then out of New York and up into Connecticut. We had a "Good Day" at the Old Sturbridge Village in Massachusetts and found out what life was like for early pioneers and settlers of our great nation. Then, we went to Bar Harbor, Maine the same weekend as President Obama where we campaigned with America's Third Party Banner Across the Top of Our Travel Pod. We drove through Milford, Pennsylvania - The Birthplace of the Conservative movement in the heart of the Poconos. Finally, we made it through Ohio and into Indiana. You can catch Our Video of Elkhart, Indiana on Youtube at www.youtube.com/americasthirdparty Then, we drove around Chicago via the dunes of Lake Michigan, through the Wisconsin Dells to Rochester, Minnesota. We have footage of the Mayo Clinic at our youtube channel. After a stopover in Mitchell, South Dakota, we headed for Mt. Rushmore.That was quite a sight as was the motorcyclists heading for the 70th anniversary run in Sturgis. We kept driving through Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. We were surprised when we arrived back in our own great state of Washington to see windmills that weren't spinning when it seemed windy outside. We also saw a waste to energy plant and will be releasing a video soon about energy in our nation. Overall, it was a great trip and we are glad to be back home.
