Regional Distribution of Goods

Many of our goods and services can be built and performed within proximity to the consumers who will use them. We can lower distribution costs by producing more goods at the local level instead of importing items from around the globe.
Presently, products are shipped around the world. Then, they are transferred to big rig trucks and driven to various locations across the country. We can begin to lower distribution costs by investing in a Mag-Lev rail system which will transport food and other goods across long distances using renewable energy. Then, big rig trucks would only be needed to transport items locally to and from the rail line. This, in turn, would make our highways safer because less long haul truckers would be required.
Regional distribution zones will encourage people to buy locally American-made products. This can also save fuel, a precious resource, for the country.
