Our society has silently become one where collective separation is the norm. We watch the same TV shows as millions of other people around the globe, essentially having a "collective" experience. However, many of us barely know our next door neighbors, which creates a feeling of separation.
It is time to rebuild our American communities. Being pulled in many directions at the same time makes this seem like a nearly impossible ideal. However, if we invite people into our lives and interact with others, we can build community.

The designs of new physical communities also needs to be evaluated. These should have place that invite people to gather together, preferably by locating shopping and central places within walking distances of residences. Each region will gain a sense of common ground as these new communities spring up in their areas.
