Fair and Equal Funding

The majority of funding for public schools comes from local property taxes. Unfortunately, property taxes can vary greatly from one area to another based on property values. This revenue is distributed only to local schools. Therefore, schools only miles apart may be extremely different in the quality of education they can offer their students.
We propose a different way of distributing property taxes to public schools. A certain percentage of all property taxes could be sent to a centralized fund. This money could then be distributed to public schools based on the number of students in attendance. This would truly ensure that no child is left behind regarding funding. Then, all of our students would begin to truly get an equal education.
