Ecological Tariffs

Many imports entering this country have been produced at a great cost to the environment. Nations that pollute, in order to bring cheap goods to the American market, need to pay a price. The problem can be rectified by the imposition of "ecological tariffs."
The costs of goods that are harmful to the environment will increase. Therefore, consumers will be less likely to purchase these products.
The higher costs to the consumer will slow its sale and force the manufacturer to commit to solving its pollution problem. The key benefit of such a tariff will be seen in companies taking responsibility for production and safely disposing of industrial waste. Without this mechanism of tariffs, we will face a much larger problem of pollution in the long run.
This plan will begin to ensure that all people on the planet have the ability to prosper.
